So there's a bit of catching up to do!

I've been fantastic. This past weekend reunited me with Jesse (several times!), I witnessed Motion City Soundtrack cover Nine Inch Nails SUPERBLY at the Hoodwink festival (picture above from backstage Friday night before they played, credit Colin Blake), had a tacos & margaritas girls night with Jaime, Lauren Ashley, and Cara, and Bamboozle'd it up on Sunday in the distressing heat.

I should mention that all members of MCS were incredibly nervous before taking the stage on Friday night to play those NIN songs. However, they all seemed cool as ice when they started playing: I was so surprised! I mean, I guess I shouldn't be as I know they are all talented dudes, but: WOAH. They were GREAT! IMPRESSIVE! MINDBLOWINGLY GOOD!

Also fun was watching Saves the Day cover Weezer's Pinkerton. My friends and I were all sidestage singing along and dancing. I remembered the days in which I would drive around in high school listening to Through Being Cool and was like, damn, I am freakin' right here now. Watching them cover one of my favourite albums. So strange. They did a great job, too!

Unfortunately, Jesse and Motion City had to fly out early Saturday morning from New Jersey to KANSAS for a show, and then return the following morning to the same stadium to play Bamboozle. Jesse was a tired boy.

My Saturday was spent more pleasantly, after a good ol' brunch with the good ol' boys Adam and Jim, the girls came over for tacos! Margaritas! Hilariousness!

My mind is being really crazy today with these writing hijinks. You think I'd be better able to control it. Nope.

The ladies night was a real lovely respite from the rest of the weekend's outdoor shows. Especially since we realized our varying relationship statuses went from married, engaged, serious relationship, and single. Also, all the "involved" people have dudes out on tour somewhere (we're "band widows," as Lauren Ashley says) - always leads to funny observations and conversation.

Rhyming, first sign of insanity.

On Sunday, Adam, Jim, Sam, Tyler, Pete and I got together and headed to Giants Stadium for Bamboozle! Where I got to see Jesse again. And I also got to witness fun. for the first time! We met up with other music aficionado and good times gal (what is that?) Liz and danced as much as we could in the blazing heat (trust me, you don't want to move a lot when you can hardly breathe in the muggy air). But wow! Fun. ruled. If you haven't heard this band yet - what?! Why haven't you downloaded Aim and Ignite?! It's so good! DO IT! NOW! HERE! It's only FIVE DOLLARS on Amazon right now!

Now that that's out of my system: we caught OK Go's set, as well as Good Old War's, and Minus the Bear before Motion City Soundtrack took the stage! Though there were some technical difficulties, I think everyone had a good time by the looks of the crowd! Were any of you there to witness it? What did you think?

After they played, I was going to stick around for Piebald's set, but that blazing sun and the ever-irksome crowds were draining me. I did get to see a lot of friends in town, like Aileen, Leslie, Dan, Ben, Steve, Luis, etc., but I had to go! Amber and I hightailed it back to the city with her newly spackled-looking sunburn (spread your sunblock evenly, y'all!) and my craving for a Nathan's hotdog. My craving was satisfied upon arriving at Penn Station, and Amber's sunburn was rudely pointed out by a girl with a lei while we were waiting in line. Seriously: done with people after that, and raced home to the comforts of a quiet apartment!

And Jesse returned home that night! Yay!

Last night a whole bunch of us dined on sushi and then giant ice cream sandwiches and then watched LOST. I call that a fun night. Except when you're crying in front of a room full of boys because of said tv show. But it's cool, I know they were crying on the inside.

Tonight - GET THIS - Jesse leaves again. But only until Friday! Motion City has a show at my college rival (PFFT) and so he goes (I'll bring home the turkey/if you bring home the bacon). Fortunately, I have some fun plans lined up!

I'm seeing SAM ROCKWELL and Christopher Walken on Broadway tonight in the play A Behanding in Spokane. Yes, the title is intriguing enough, but when Adam told me Rockwell was starring in it - after just seeing him on the streets a couple of weeks ago - I was 100% in.

Tomorrow night Adam and I join forces again with some other geek friends to see IRON MAN and IRON MAN 2 in theaters. Yes, double feature! Super RDJ-ness! DOING IT! I am so glad I have friends who I can get uber nerdy with. It's really the bees knees.

Question 23 (Movies Edition)

These questions were all from one person! And we all know I love movies.

First of all, I just want to say that for about a year I've adored your blog and tumblr. I'm in college now and it's nice to see someone who has the same kind of outlook and interests doing so well in the "adult world". Hope that isn't weird!

Thanks - and I've come to understand so far that there really isn't an "adult world" in terms of outlook and interests. You don't have to drop liking teen novels just because you're no longer a teen. You can still believe in romantic love after you've graduated college. I know I'm part idealist; it hasn't hampered me in the least. Even when it comes to the actual "adult world" concerning responsibilities and accountability, that's where the so-called "growing up" comes into play. I'm maneuvering myself into a comfortable spot within that realm.

Anyway, I have a few movie related questions!

What is your favorite Robert Downey Jr. movie?

Difficult question - but I really loved Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. It's because I'm also a sucker for modern noir films. If I had to say my favourite character, it'd be his character Larry on Ally McBeal. I remember that being the only reason I tuned into that show.

What are your favorite foreign films?

I love foreign films! My favourites are probably Almodovar's Volver and Todo Sobre Mi Madre.  But I can't forget Amelie. I also really loved The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.

Most anticipated movies of 2010?

Hm, I'm trying to think of previews I've seen recently...well, I did see a picture in a magazine of RDJ filming his new movie with Zach Galifianakis and the creators of The Hangover; I'm interested! Because obviously those guys do comedy well, but add RDJ into the mix?! Sold. Movie is called: Due Date.

Some others: Salt (sometimes I like a kickass action movie!), Date Night (I will see anything Tina Fey is in), I Love You Phillip Morris (Ewan MacGregor and Jim Carrey as gay lovers in a movie produced by Luc Besson? I am all curiosity), and while it doesn't exactly look great, I'm always up for watching Joseph Gordon-Levitt run around New York in Uncertainty.

I TOTALLY FORGOT: IRON MAN 2! Definitely my #1 movie I'm looking forward to in 2010.

Least looking forward to: Valentine's Day. A re-hash of He's Just Not That Into You, I really can't stand by and pretend to want to see something that is based on probably the worst movie I saw this year. Even if my fave Jennifer Garner stars. And so does Jessica Alba and Jessica Biel - NEED I SAY MORE? I will: their mere-seconds performances in the trailer were easily the worst of the whole thing (really? alone on Valentine's Day? We're going to base our movie on that? Have Biel eating chocolate and crying to her boss about it?!?!?!?!?!) --- that is, except for Ashton Kutcher. Stab my eyes out now, please. Thanks!

RAGE RAGE RAGE/endrage. Thanks for letting me vent.

If you had to choose between the two, would you rather see Sherlock Holmes or Nine with Daniel Day Lewis (AND Marion Colltiard! LOVE HER.)


Oh you clever, clever anon! MUST I CHOOSE?! I will go with Sherlock Holmes simply because Nine is brought down by the fact that it co-stars Fergie, Kate Hudson (um, she sings?), and the ridiculous non-dancer Nicole Kidman. I give Kidman props, but have you seen Moulin Rouge? It's one of my favourite movies ever (yeah, I said it), but she's the stiffest person in the joint. She has no grace and I'm sorry, her vocals are shrill. However, yes, I will see it because how am I to resist the rest of the cast? Penelope Cruz and Sofia Loren and Marion Cotilliard and yes, oh yes, Daniel Day Lewis.

And how good does Sherlock Holmes look? I think it could really boost Guy Ritchie's flailing career. Hurrah!

Truth is not just in the now.

After the epic weekend with my friends and family in Massachusetts, I trudged to work yesterday...wait, scratch that. I did not trudge - I treaded lightly as possible, because my whole body was sore from all the running, jumping, climbing trees activities of this weekend. I didn't know wiffle ball could take it out of me that much. At one point yesterday, I walked into a meeting and my boss noticed my curious manner of walking (like someone on stilts but still short) and laughed heartily at my tale of wiffle woe and oh yeah, those are two mosquito bites ON MY FACE.

But, like I said, I had a great amount of fun.

As I sauntered gingerly into the apartment after work, Jesse took care of me like the geriatric I apparently turned into overnight. He helped me sit down and made me tortellini and let me watch Friends.

Not willing to give into the routine of an old biddy, we decided to see Tropic Thunder. Usually Jesse stays away from such fanfare, as his critical mind demands much higher levels of sophistication in his personal media consumption (except for fart jokes, he always has a laugh for those...and giving them out). We found ourselves laughing a lot, but most especially at Robert Downey, Jr. Oh, RDJ, how happy you continue to make me. He's hilarious, has great timing, and I would never have read that role and been like, "Robert Downey Jr would be perfect for this!" - but he was. And yes, yes, other things were good about the movie, and it's really just the same schtick that Stiller loves, and I LOVE RDJ. Also, interesting fact, I was suprised to see Justin Theroux's name as co-writer on the film during the credits. Ah, an old love. But back to RDJ.

That is all.

After the movie, Jesse and I headed to our friend Bruce McDonald's party at Bowery Electric - he's been living in New York for 14 years and well, he has some great stories. Jonah Bayer was there, too, and I'd tell you more about that if he wasn't so boring and once again, NOT Mark Ronson...(jk Jonahcakes). So we had our Guinesses and laughs.

There's a really great story I want to tell you - but this is public forum. I wouldn't want the person in the story to suddenly seek me out via some networking site and find me laughing (goodheartedly) about them here. I will say that my engagement ring is really big, and it's a funny thing when somebody doesn't notice it, and I start looking like a posing mannequin in the middle of a bar. Even that, was probably too much. OH WELL!

Tonight some mysterious fameballing will be happening at Trainwreck, so get your butt there if you ever wanted a shot at being real. What?
