Things that are funny. And true.

Yeah, but here's the thing: I get to start thinking of words for "husband." :)

She's scared to death of cobra snakes.

I've been incredibly busy. But here are some wrap-up stories about my wonderful Memorial Day weekend spent with my family and friends:

- Hi Dad! Hi Uncle Arthur! (They found my blog.)

- So, Kells hates period films and dust in movies. Yeah, dust. We thought it was wise to bring her to Indiana Jones! The best part is she LOVED it. Yay! I mean, the three of us were sitting there cracking up at the corniness (oh, the monkey scene) and the myriad of unintentional comedy scenes (Shia rolling up on his moto'cyyyyy). It was a fun adventure movie and it kept us laughing, so I'll thumbs up that one. For part of a franchise, it held great - at least it wasn't X-Men 3 or Spiderman 3 (UGH). Also, pretty cool that they brought back Indy's love interest, and they didn't shack him up with the likes of a 20-year-old Hollywood starlet. Also, that actress, Karen Allen, runs a knitting shop and got a call from Spielberg to her knitting studio asking her to come back. Uh, YEAH, I'm freakin' knitting, I have some time to be in the next Indiana Jones mega-blockbuster...or, whatever.

- Indiana Jones, via someecards.com:

- Erica and I were running to catch the 456 from Grand Central when she ran onto it, and the doors closed in my face. I was so mad that I had to wait. (So much traveling, you know?). Anyway, I get on the next train and after a couple of stops I look up and I realize that it's my roommate from college, Melissa, whom I haven't seen in THREE YEARS (since we graduated, woah!). I snap my fingers at her (I dunno, my voice was gone?) and we have a mini-flipout on the train, along with her friend Jill, that had come and visited us at Boston University years ago. Turns out she lives near Union Square, and I had to take the L, but it was a fun little coincidence. We are getting together soon...

There's my wrap-up.

Oh, also, there's THIS new pic from the Watchmen movie:

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm SO BUSY this week. On Friday I'm jetting off to St. Louis to meet up with the FIANZ. I can't contain my excitment! We're celebrattin' his birthday :)

And I know you've been missing the gratuitous barftime. Below, we "lie down" next to each other. Haha -I'm a total nerd and I don't care. That's what happens, I guess. This one's for Jonah.

"More sass than Pete Wentz has eyeliner."

First and foremost, I'd like to recommend a book. It's called Hot Mess: Summer in the City by Julie Kraut and Shallon Lester. It's a teen novel, but I haven't really outgrown sleepovers and wanting to be more mature, so why should I begrudge reading something intended for teenagers? I mean, I've definitely read all the Traveling Pants books, so whatever. Moving on.

This book is brilliant summer reading because it's about two Connecticut teens spending the summer before their senior year in Manhattan. They're smart girls, but clueless when it comes to the big city - which is part of the book's hilariousness. They get internships, though the only thing they know about internships came by way of LC on The Hills. Basically, the way that Dawson's Creek's teen characters dropped three- and four-syllable words, is the way Kraut & Lester's characters drop pop culture references (except way more believable, obvs). I'm only halfway through the book but there was a Panic at the Disco reference.

So couple emo with wit, and you have me sold. I would probably not recommend this to any dudes, just saying. This isn't like me recommending Watchmen. Ha. And it is actually a great follow-up, as it has banished any apocalyptic Watchmen-induced afterthoughts from my brain. In short: FUN READ. Buy it at Amazon.

Memorial Day weekend! I have a half day of work tomorrow, and then my girls Kelly and Erica will join me for fun in Massachusetts for my brother's college graduation party. We have other things to plan over the weekend, so Kells did the whole "itinerary" thing - I'm not kidding, she e-mailed it to me today. Anyway, I'm really stoked for being out of the city and at home with my parents and my brother. We have the best backyard fun ever. It usually consists of whiffle ball, barbeque, and flip cup (which my mom and dad learned to play at my brother's 21st birthday party a couple of years ago, and is still slighty scarring to watch - but amazing). I'm just hoping the weather is better than all the rain we've been getting this week...oh, who cares, it's three and a half days of not working. Woo!

Walking into spiderwebs.

We know I'm a videochatting fiend. So, Jesse's computer broke yesterday and I had a sad. I mean, we're in a long distance relationship - no es bueno. Yeah, we have the phone, but it's easier to talk to people while you see their face. Maybe it's just me, but talking on the phone is just too much guesswork. I tend to pay real close attention to inflection, and it's much more labor intensive than video chat. Also, I happen to love my fianz' face. Today I came home from work and saw that my bestie Kells had a little camera next to her screenname!

Me: Wait, should I put on pants for this?
Kelly: What? You're not wearing pants?
Me: HAHA just kidding.
Kelly: hahahaha
Me: Actually, I'm not, but that was funny, right?
[flash a bare leg into the screen]
Kelly: Why aren't you wearing pants?!?!
Me: Well, I just got home from work and I hate my work pants so the first thing I do is take them off, and then i was just checkin' on the internets, which is pretty PANTS OPTIONAL, and we started video chatting.
Kelly: Oh, okay. So, what's up?

---

P.S.

You knew I wasn't going to do a videochat post without one of him. Also, can you see why I love looking at his face?!?!?!?!?! THANK YOU.

Haircut.

Okay, so I don't know why, but any time I get my hair cut (or trimmed, as in today), the stylist insists (INSISTS!) on straightening my hair. I think it looks fine blow-dried. I occasionally straighten my hair...when it's particularly frizzy. But! I like the body and movement I get from blow-drying it as opposed to straightening the strands into sticks. Anyways, the good news is the cut seems fine, I just have to get it back to Jessica-style.

The usual: some body, some sass (ha)

Today: so straight! No life! It's like Hedda Gabler, y'all.

Kells keeps me laughing via email.

Kells: fakey wedding planner, and always for the win. She seriously rules. Especially when I'm having a crappy day. Yay!

Total eclipse of the fart.

So, this weekend was mildly relaxing but it was mostly crappy. Especially this morning when my mom called me in tears to tell me she found our doggie Estrella dead this morning. :( We have no more pups in the house left...Skyla died a few months ago. I called my mom like four times today because she's all alone, as my dad is away on business. Just very sad.

And I miss the fiancee. A lot. It hurts.

I don't want this post to be a total downer! Check out NickyDigital and Jiscilla's pics from Trainwreck Prom! Here are some of yours truly - being awkward like always.

I never post videos.

Jesse passed along this video the other day and I was completely mesmerized. I hardly ever post videos here, so you know it's legit.

Hey oh, I'm posting on a Friday NIGHT! Yeah, I'm in my bed and I don't care. This week exhausted me. The past few weeks have. I'm hoping to rejuvenate over the weekend.

In other news, I'm going to take this moment and inform you that Monty Are I are back into updating! They're working on their new album, and you should check out their VIDEO on YouTube (I know, another video, but TRUST). Check out that new jam they play for the school - Steve played it backstage via headphones at their New York show last year and it's evolved from pretty sweet into awesome (am I a surfer?). Also, MAI put out the best videos. They are hilarious. Though this video also touches on a more personal level - from their site:

"We have been doing some work with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and recently played an acoustic show for a middle school that raised a shit ton of money for the cause. Watch the video to learn more about what we are doing and ways you can help. If you would like to donate any money to the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society you can go to www.lls.org/donate. We have set up an account in our name so if you would like to donate in honor of Monty Are I, where it says

THIS GIFT IS: In Honor of
NAME: MONTY ARE I
OCCASION: MONTY ARE I
SPECIAL HANDLING INSTRUCTIONS: THE RHODE ISLAND CHAPTER.

If you can, take the time to donate to the societly! Then you can check off your good deed for the day!
"

DONATE! Also, don't watch the following video while you have the MAI site open because that's what I did and I went through a rather embarrassing conversation with Steve about how I couldn't hear what they were saying in the video because of all the "wind sounds." Yeah, I just needed to close the MAI site.

PS Now that you've watched the first video - WOAH! Is your mind blown? Fanx, FIANZ.

Have all your stories memorized.

So I'm currently reading Watchmen, which until last year, I'd never heard of. Apparently it's a highly influential comic series. And Time Magazine even listed it as one of the "100 Best Novels" (in the English-language, since 1923). I really enjoyed all the Batman comics I started out with, and I'm totally immersed in Watchmen. And oh, wouldn't you know it, they're coming out with a movie! The casting seems pretty good, especially after seeing this picture of Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Grey's Anatomy, Weeds) as The Comedian:

[Sidenote: why does he always play dead people?] Anyways, my nerdiness continues to develop exponentially, and I'd like to take a moment to thank Rick, Adam, James, and Sean for all this comic book glory. And let's all go see the movie together on opening day, shall we?

Tonight is TV central, and I've been out and about so much in the past couple of weeks, that I really just want to take the next week OFF. Just do nothing. Ha. Fat chance in this city. Also, Happy Birthday Rachel! We'll be celebrating on Saturday, as tonight we shall be locked in by Part One of the LOST season finale (uh, how good has the show been this season?!?!).

In other news, Jesse has a day off and he's spending it at Cedar Point!! I'm so jealous, cause we had so much fun there last year. But he sends me really cute emails that include pictures like this:

Jesse - hands up, mouth open, tongue out. I love him.

I'm checkin' it out, that's right !

Hey-oh! My review of the Tegan & Sara is show is up now at Almack's Dance Hall! CHECK IT OUT!!!

In other news, last night's Trainwreck Prom was way better than my actual prom (omg stab me if I ever have to re-live that). So many people were there, including the elusive Katie Brown and all members of Curbside. I haven't seen Justin and Tyler in forever, and it was so fun because they got all excited to congratulate me and see my engagement ring. My friends rule. Pictures via Jiscilla, Meik, and NickyDigital forthcoming!

And, oh, the happy news of yesterday: I'm seeing Jesse at the end of May. Sixteen days! He's all "in Canada" right now, so it's been tougher than usual to talk, which obvs makes me miss him more, so I'm really really really really excited to see him. Plus, errebody on tour and Joyce, etc., etc., etc. Oh, and I'll get to celebrate his birthday.

Tonight my plans include finally RELAXING on the couch. So stoked.

EDIT! Here are a few of Meik's pictures :

Off to Trainwreck Prom!

I'm out to help my girls decorate, committee-style.
P.S. I'm wearing my awesome L.A.M.B. dress. Pictures later.

How to get ready for Trainwreck Prom.

You should come. I have a dress on. And I'm curling my hair for this. And, uh, pre-leaving picture to come as well. :)

I'd spend the night and I'd lose my mind.

Okay! Last night's show ROCKED. I'm currently writing a live review for Sarah @ Almack's Dance Hall (check it out for all the fun shows that go down in NYC every night!), and I'll let you know when it goes up. But for now, here's the setlist for anyone who cares:

Best weekend.

Gah, if you couldn't tell from the pictures, I had a fabulous weekend. The ridiculousness of getting to Philadelphia on Friday evening was soon assuaged by the greeting arms of Jesse, who hugged me away from the freezing rain and wind and kissed my forehead to banish all my worries and headaches. We had only said bye to each other that morning, but were positively missing each other something horrible in the hours between reuniting.

The show, the fun, the people, the music, the video games, the cookies, the bus, etc., etc., etc. These are the things that make it all so great. On Saturday, Erica and Lauren joined us in Connecticut and we went to some restaurant called Mexican 2000 and while it was not particularly good Mexican food, the margaritas did their tricks. The merriment continued into the show, while us three girls bopped around in the crowd to all the songs, and came back to the dressing room sweating as though we had just played the show, too. I hope I'm never too old to shake my hips and bop my head to some good live music; interestingly, Erica and I saw two graying and perm-haired women with beers in their hands, jumping around and singing along. That, my friends, will be us, too.

The backstage shennanigans that night included a serious discussion of Lauren's age in relativity to the rest of us, Ryan Ross telling Lauren he had plans about bubbles, all of us rushing into Panic's dressing room to raid the Taco Bell, Jon Walker acting very interested in what we were choosing even though the selection included only soft tacos, and laughing contests. I can't even explain any of that.

Unfortunately, I had to say goodbye to Jesse at the end of the night. It was particularly not fun because I'm not sure whether I'll be able to see him in a couple of weeks - or in a month. BOO. This long distance thing was never fun, but it's bearable when you know someone's nerdily missing you as hard as you are them. Today he's in Canada. BOO.

The good news is that even though I didn't get to spend Sunday with Jesse or with Mom (I'm not quite sure if she forgives me for that...), I did spend it with Lauren and Erica, and it began with chocolate-chip pancakes. After eating while basking in the sun we decided to...continue basking in the sun. And gossip - oh dear, the goss. We may have even gotten our first bite of actual summer. Then we ate burgers that were delicious and Erica and I had to bid adieu to our young (and quite amazing) friend. I crashed on the couch and caught up with all of last week's television. O, Sunday, I love thee.

Today's been crazy, and this week is just FULL already - tonight I see one of my favorite acts for the first time live, Tegan & Sara! I'm especially stoked because though I love their previous albums, last year's The Con may be ranked in my favorite albums of all time. I'm also going with three dude friends, so that's pretty awesome. Tomorrow night is TRAINWRECK PROM!! How can you miss out on that? And errands, yadda yadda yadda, the FIRST PART OF THE LOST FINALE (oh the important things...) and then it's my roommate Rachel's birthday pahty on Saturday. SO. Many, many things. I haven't even had time to contemplate wedding stuff, overdue doctor's appointments, or the fact that George Clooney loves Rock of Love and he sends text messages.

And!! Congrats to Emily&Evan for gettin' engaged over the weekend!

AND!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY GURJ BURGER! Get back to le States e'soon.

In finale, I found these photos of an afternoon waiting to get in at Red Bamboo when Colleen was here :)
