Got a body like a battle-axe.

How was everyone's weekend?! Mine was quite spectacular.

Friday night, Jesse and I stopped in at a new art gallery around the corner called Eastern District. They're currently exhibiting the works of a comic book artist known as Juan Doe. It also has some Kaws art and clothing. Our friend Jesse Lee works there, and I usually only see that girl out in the city, so I'm excited that she's like a "new neighbor." Next month Eastern District is exhibiting the works of Poster Boy - the guy who remixes subway posters.

And Erica got her hair cut!!! She looks RAD. (That's her above with Jesse Lee!)

On Saturday morning, Jesse, Erica, Sean, and I headed to the 72nd Street IMAX at EIGHT AM from Brooklyn. We met up with Keller, Perry, Katie, Adam, and Eli in a giant-email-threaded meet-up. Seriously, we've been planning this for three weeks. We got there an hour before Watchmen, and there was STILL a line!

Of course, my thoughts on the film will be brought to you in a separate post, lest some readers don't care for all the details! Anyway, it was such a wonderful weather day that we decided to walk all the way from W 72nd Street and Broadway to E 14th Street and 3rd Avenue. That's about 65 blocks on foot. And it was glorious!

On Saturday evening, Jesse took me out for our two-year anniversary dinner at Peter Luger's! If you don't know, Peter Luger's is a fantastic steak joint in Brooklyn, that I've seen profiled a zillion times on the Food Network, and has won the New York's Best Steakhouse prize every year since like 1985...or something. It's very hard to come by a reservation. And it didn't disappoint! Jesse has the pictures (maybe I'll add later!), but we got the steak for two and it was HUGE but we finished it all - even the meat of the bone. It's that kind of meat that just melts in your mouth...yummmm. A food coma ensued, of course.

That night, Erica and I went to Kelly's luau where there was some epic renditions of classic songs via karaoke. And everyone was dressed up in beachwear - even a dude in board shorts and a long-sleeved wet-shirt or whatever they're called. Amazing.

I finally made it to bed (remember, still Saturday - I had woken up at 7am!) and on Sunday I clean, clean, cleaned. Then Jesse and I met up with our friends Dan & Kristy, who were in town for Dan's show (he plays in OkGo). We went to dinner with them, Alexa and her boyfriend, Kafi, and Tim (the bassist). It's always so much fun to hang out with Kristy! I look forward to every time she's in town! Exclamation points don't do it enough justice!!!

Okay. After the catch-up, we went to the Music Hall of Williamsburg for the show to see openers Longwave. Then OkGo took the stage, and I couldn't help but dance. They played a lot of new songs, all of which ROCKED. And yes, there was lots of fun paper confetti! I couldn't make the afterparty (given my jobby job job), so I headed home. And thus concludes the adventure that was this weekend.

In other news - I'm messing around with the design of this page, so it'll be changing for the next few days until I find a way in which I like it! Thanks!

Monty Are I last night @ Highline!

Last night, Perry, Kells, Erica and I rocked out at the Monty Are I show. The dudes from Rhode Island haven't played live in over a year, but they didn't miss a beat. I got really excited waiting in line outside because even though it was deathly cold, the two girls in front of me were singing "Between the Sheets" and I was like, hells yeah! But, really, I just smiled. They should have an album coming out at some point this year...and judging from the new songs I heard last night, it's going to be just as epic as their last effort, Wall of People. And once they go on tour, you should check them out - one of the best live shows ever.

Steve and the gang couldn't hang out after, so the girls and I went to a bar/diner and talked about our new love...Friday Night Lights. Yeah. Then Erica and I went home and watched a couple episodes of that. But, anyways, that Oscar post will still maybe happen. It's becoming increasingly irrelevant, though, am I right? Ha.

These soles are useless without you.

And so it is Friday, and I'm finishing up the update about last weekend. Ha.

On Sunday we were in Shakopee, Minnesota. My plane was at 5pm, so I had to leave by 3, way before their set and only a few hours after we woke up. We went to catering, I helped Jesse wash his hair in the parking lot, and then we just hung out by the bus until it was time to go.

At one point, I went on the bus to grab my backpack, and when I came back out the dudes were like, "Where are you going?!?!?!" - they were so surprised that I was already leaving. And they got in a line to give me goodbye hugs, not kidding. It was really cute and made me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Then they were off to a signing and our friend Tiffany drove me to the airport, cause she rules. And the planes were all on time, thankfully. It was such a completely fun weekend, I didn't want to leave. Jesse, true to form, was like, "then don't go," and I may have seriously contemplated skipping work again, but they were heading to Canada. He'll be back soon though, and that's how it is for us - there's always something to look forward to.

Tony staying far away from the likes of me.

Brian camping out in front of Shwayze's bus. (You know I'm kidding.)
[P.S. I saw far too much of Cisco Adler that weekend. And way too much of his hands touching girls...like, all the time.]

Jesse testing out Brian's new bike.

Hangs. Matt, literally.

Bye, bye.

Sat: Omaha, apparently Iowa. &Sun: KC.

I shall tell you a tale in pictures! Since I apparently only took pictures at the Honda Civic's Omaha date. First off, the bus ride from STL to Omaha was brutal. I am a heavy sleeper, but the bus was bouncing me all over the bunk. I did not get much sleep.

However, sleep doesn't much matter when there's a glorious day to be spent with your fianz and other such awesome people. I woke Jesse up when his mom arrived with her friend Diane. It was great to see Sandi again, as this was the first time I've seen her since before Jesse had proposed! She also had a car, so we took advantage of that and drove into the "city," which I thought was Omaha, Nebraska, but was actually Council Bluffs, Iowa. I don't get it.

This is the venue before doors opened, on our way out to lunch - see, there's nothing here. It's five miles away from civilization. It's still rad.

Fianz! NOM NOM NOM.

We went to the mall because MCS had a blood drive signing, and we walked past the Hot Topic where the window was MCS-ed out. :)

Justin and Jesse getting ready for the show. Jesse doing jumping jacks. My sidekick is not a good camera, CAN YOU TELL??

My sidestage girlfriend/partner in crime/awesome lady Joyce.

Diane & Sandi!!

Tour manager Brian/B/SillyGrrl's #1 Fan.

Justin's post-show hair in all it's glory.

Joyce, literally nomming Tony.

Matt.

After the show, since we didn't have a car to drive anywhere, there was basically a rolling party in any direction you went. Outside the buses, Beth broke out the Sparks and we were sitting around a continually growing number of people with instruments playing selections from Weezer's Blue album. At one point I shut up because Brendan Urie (singer for Panic) joined and, let's be honest, I shouldn't be singing in public EVER. Bob from The Hush Sound did start playing The Beatles, "I've Just Seeen a Face," and I think I almost flipped out/freaked him out...but who can be sure?

Jesse and I then wandered onto the empty-but-lit stage and hung out in the lawn and looked up at the sky and other corny things about stars, blah blah blah. It was good to walk around and just talk one-on-one. :)

Back on the bus that night we had a nice little cuddle in his bunk, until he awoke from a violent dream and literally pushed me out. He apologized the next day, but I hardly remembered in my sleepy state. Funny stuff. Then the bus started moving and I had another crap night of sleep in my bunk...seriously, I clutch my mattress at times.

We arrived in Kansas City the next day and it was kind of interesting because I lived in Ft. Leavenworth twice in my life (for a year in 4th grade, then back for 7th and half of 8th). Also, Joyce is from KC but I didn't get a chance to see her puppies! :( All was well, though, because while Jesse did his pump-you-up routine at the local gym, Sandi, Diane and I went shopping on the plaza.

Then the big, doomed moment came and Jesse was driving me to the airport. :( I can't stand saying bye. I think I rushed back to the car three times after saying goodbye to get in one more kiss. NERD. The flight went fine and I made it home last night at a reasonable hour. Today was pretty brutal though, and I'm excited to go home and rest.
