Must be what's best for me.

So much to discuss.

FIRST: TODAY DRAGONETTE'S ALBUM GALORE IS RELEASED DIGITALLY! Remember how I told you how awesome Martina is as a frontwoman? How rockin' their live shows are? How I may or may not dance around to this album every morning and every night in front of my mirror???

From I Surrender's MySpace:

The wait is now over, and the day is finally here GALORE is available for download in the U.S.! Head on over to iTunes, Amazon, etc. to get your copy today!

The release date for the physical copy of GALORE (October 28th) is so close already, you can almost touch it. If you prefer a physical copy of the album, we have a fun pre-order up at the I Surrender merch store that comes with a free Dragonette t-shirt.

So buy it now, of course!

SECOND! WE ADOPTED KITTEHS! They are arriving tonight at 7PM. On Saturday, Jesse, Erica and I got in touch with Brooklyn's Empty Cages Collective and applied for two kittens. The representative was extremely nice, and really just wanted to know that we were going to give the kittens a good home - which, of course, we are! He seemed much more interested in this issue than judging us (the last rep did not like Jesse's tattoos enough to look him in the face when she spoke). Today we found out that we got approved and I'm SO EXCITED! (Obvs, stay tuned for pictures later!)

THIRD! And most exciting - CHRISTY IS IN TOWN TONIGHT! As you may remember, my bestie (& Curbside member) Christy left us desolate here in Manhattan a few months ago when she moved to Austin, Texas...nary a glance back in our sadness. JK. Christy is here and I'm meeting up with her straight after work! I was going to go to tonight's always-amazing Trainwreck (free booze, awesome jams - what's not to like??), but since the glorious roommate Erica actually has to DJ that (she's way cooler than me) and Jesse has to fly down to Florida tonight to play a Motion City Soundtrack show with Lupe Fiasco (okay, Fianz is way cooler than me, too), I am kitten lady for the animals' first evening at home. Which makes sense, given my ever-accumulating amounts of non-coolness. But at least I get to catch up with Christy before her and the girls hit up the party - if you're in New York, you'll wanna be there tonight!

And finally, I finished Twilight last night. Reactions to come soon. And kitteh pictures.

A quick recap of last night.

Basically --

Santogold disappointed. The sound was less-than-stellar. As in, I could hear the conversations over the music. Fail.

Perry and I went ready to dance. We didn't. Fail.

Keller and I had a totally nerdy moment in a Walgreen's. Perry captured us being dorks. Slight coolness fail.

We made it to Le Royale just in time for Dragonette. AMAZING. Seriously, they're a lot of fun live. And Martina's brazen-ness also has a Peaches quality to it - but not raunchy and not electroclash. Hard to explain. Literally, I just tried verbally explaining it to Erica to no avail. They both have this strutty confidence. I love that in female vocalists during live shows. Everybody is dancing and jumping around and Martina was looking at us like, "yeah, I know you like it," but at the same time totally gracious that we were... I will stop. I can't even TRY to explain this. I fail, Dragonette WINS ALWAYS.

(Martina on Thursday night via here)

Then I dance, dance, danced in my electro-blue tights and headed home.

Today was slightly productive: I did a lot of ironing and cleaning. How boring! But remember, tomorrow = football. Until then...

A girl with true ambition.

I've been scouring the internet for a picture from last night's Dragonette show at Mercury Lounge, but I can't find any yet. This is beside the point.

I will tell you, that for me to really and truly fall in love with a band, I need to see their live show and that show needs to be fantastic. My favourite bands put out awesome live shows: No Doubt, Motion City, Monty Are I, etc. Fortunately for Dragonette, THEY BLEW ME AWAY!!!

Seriously, I couldn't believe how awesome they sounded and my hips were shaking the entire show. The best thing is that I get to see them again tonight!

Yay! We'll obviously be re-visiting this subject after tonight.

In other news, I plan on getting a lot of things done this weekend. It's starting to get cooler out, and it might just be the right time to re-evaluate my closet and get rid of things. Also, I just bought the first two seasons of How I Met Your Mother, so we'll see how that goes! Erica and I watched the pilot last night, and it's looking promising.

Sunday is football (and the Emmys!). Obviously. And despite all the alcohol in the last post, I haven't had a drink since. Sometimes the body needs a little refresher. PLUS, next week's my birthday. Celebrayshunz. Speaking of, due to the awesome Dagger-fresh flyer, I want my birthday present to myself to be a sweet Mad Men-inspired dress. Inspired - I don't want to be costume-y. But if I find a sweet and hoopy Betty-like dress, or a slinky number I could see Joan parading in - I'm buying it! Unfortch, just because it's my birthday doesn't mean I have the dinero to buy a designer confection. The good thing is, the show has definitely inspired a lot of fashion trends lately, so I have high hopes to find something cheaper. A lot of magazines have editorials inspired by Joans and Bettys lately...

Okay, that was starting to turn into a ramble. Last thought - I'm really excited for this autumn; it's always my favourite time of year.

My Top Artists this Week (Sep 8 - Sep 14)

(via my last.fm)

I knew I'd get obsessed with Dragonette when I first heard them! I've been listening non-stop and I Surrender will be releasing it in the U.S. on October 14th digitally, and in stores on October 28th. On my last recommendation, Paula of Insert My Blog Name Here bought the album (she's in the UK, where it was already released) and became a fan -

Get into it before everybody else does, right? ;)

I'm also so totally stoked for tomorrow and Friday nights because Dragonette are playing BOTH nights and my friends and I are ready to dance. I'll obviously let you know how they are live - I have high hopes and I don't think they'll disappoint.

By the way, Trainwreck was a great success last night, and due to the word getting out about tv cameras in the midst of AK every Tuesday, the place is more packed than ever! Also, Ryan (Take the Crown) is in town visiting Perry, and stepped in to guest-DJ as Hi Deaf. Rob and Erica obviously continue to dominate the dance party jams! AND, surprise, surprise, I got a call from Steve (Monty Are I) yesterday, my dear old friend, and he was in town for the night, so I made him join the fun. Great to see him, as always; I'm super excited for the new Monty Are I album, which the band will be recording in LA for the next couple of months. The great night continued when I got home and got to video chat with Jesse, which hasn't happened in a while due to Fail Internet, but I fell asleep smiling per usual.

And, OH HEY, guess who's having a joint birthday party next week?!?!

PS, thanks for all the feedback regarding my last post and Twilight, I'm still taking any opinions, and will be tallying it soon to see if I read or not. Again, lots of polarizing feelings about this series exist!

PS2, don't forget to join my blog network if you have Facebook, and feel free to add me as a friend!
